Alsager Bowling and Recreation Club was established in 1904; with a dedicated Management Committee and many supportive members our Club has adapted to many life style changes over the decades.
Our green is well maintained by a green keeper and a fantastic team of volunteers help to look after the Club House. We have a sizable clubhouse with toilets and a kitchen area which keeps tea and coffee flowing. There is also a covered outdoor seated area.
We do not play in League matches but do have friendly matches with local clubs throughout the summer season. In the winter we play on an indoor mat in the Club House.
There are many club cup matches which members enjoy as well as special events, such as Captain’s Day, President’s Day and an annual charity event. There are also various social functions throughout the year.

Club History
The Club was founded with the aim of establishing and maintaining a bowling green and tennis courts and other games as deemed possible. In May 1904 seven local gentlemen formed a company in pursuance of the Clubs Memorandum of Association. 1905 saw the building of the Club House, which has undergone modernisation in recent years.
The Bowling Club was an all male preserve for 90 years but in 1994 with some reluctance it was decided to open up to the ladies. The ladies soon showed they took their bowls just as seriously as the men and were soon involved in the Club matches and competitions.
In 2016 The Company sold off the tennis courts to a developer to build two bungalows. This was not without it problems but eventually the money was in the bank and invested for the future. During this time it was agreed by the shareholders to apply for Community Sports Club Status. One capital project undertaken was an automated watering system for the green which has been beneficial during recent hot summers. The Club House was refurbished with double glazing, inside toilets and a new floor to improve the surface for indoor bowling.
The Alsager Bowling and Recreation Company Ltd is run by a Board of Directors. There are shareholders and as a company it is registered at Companies House. The Company owns the land and the Club House. There is a Management Committee who have responsibility for the bowling activities in the Club.
